Happy July 4th

Well, only in America, while 1/2 of the world population is in need of food, can you get up, put on your red, white, and blue, and watch people compete for the world record hot dog eating contest! That's right, the American beat the existing record holder by downing 66 hot dogs in 12:00 minutes! The commentator proclaimed it was the greatest day in American sports history, as thousands of interested fans screamed and yelled for the victory of bringing the Nathans title back home! We lost 40,000 Americans in one day over a battle of states rights 150 years ago, we lost more solders in WWII than history can record, over 50,000 Americans in Vietnam, over 3000 Americans at pearl harbor in one day, about 3000 Americans in New York in a few hours, but hey!!!!!!!!!!!! We are the winners of the World Hot dog eating championship. Congratulations Mr Chestnut, I certainly do not wish to take anything away from your victory, but I guess I just do not get the perspective. We have the right to do these things because of the thousands of Americans who gave their life blood for the opportunity. Hundreds of thousands more family members endured the grief of that loss. Today however, less than 36% of Americans can give the President a "Good Job!" for an attempt to let Iraqis have the chance to gorge themselves on hot dogs. It has cost us 4000 lives in over four years. I certainly do not agree with all he does, but he wouldn't agree with me on everything either. Isn't that what makes us great? I don't really mean to be political today, I guess I just don't get us any more. Oh well, I am wearing a red shirt, blue and white shorts, cooking hamburgers and brats, and thankful for the chance. Thank God, and those who died, for the freedom I have because I was born in the Good ole USA. Welcome ALL of you who are here! God bless you, Dios te bendiga! and Oh yea, Good Job Mr. President. Happy 4th!
