Hey all, I am headed to Eldoret and Siwa as we speak. I spent the night here in Nairobi and got some good rest. It is crazy here in this country. The politics are so corrupt and the process is full of hindrances to their success. Two active politicians along with two other cabinet members are under indictment by the ICC at the Hague, but are still in office and one is running for President. First of all I don't understand a sovereign nation deferring their autonomy to an international body. Why would you allow that to happen? Can you imagine our President or Speaker of the house or Senate majority leader being under indictment by an international body while serving our country? I would certainly hope we could take care of our own judicial matters and if a serving politician did something illegal, we would trust our own process to correct the situation. On top of all of that, I sit in a nice Hotel with charity based CEO's and Local politicians discussing international policy for eradicating hunger, malaria, and Aids while ordering their third bottle of $100.00 wine. Ha! Oh well, its time for me to go to the Bush.! The next time I write I will have pictures of Robert and the students of the World Hope home in Lemoru. I'm off to fly 540 air. A local based airline. Hey all, this is my first blog of the New Year. The theme, "All In!" has been resonating in me so far. As I travel, study, and interact with people around the world, I since a propensity to waver, side step, be cautious, and allow room for other options prevailing. In the past weeks I have listened to two strong leaders feud over the reality of Hell and its purpose. I have visited with people who really think that whatever they are believing at the moment takes precedence over what God says. Don't get me wrong, I see my self as chief of sinners and the last person who has the right to judge others life choices. However, I am also the first to admit my short comings as well as acknowledge that I don't have to understand, think its fair, or even believe all that God says's for Him to be truth and me to be wrong. I guess it is just really simple to me. Jesus said to a man who was smarter, more committed, and had better life values than I do, if he wasn't born again, then he would never see the Kingdom of God. Ok! What else is there to argue about or write about? It is what it is. Anyway, your either in or out. I'm all in!

This week I am in the Northridge Baptist church of San Angelo TX . Pastor Emmett Corker and the rest are great friends and wonderfully gracious people. This week my wife Debbie and I served with Sherman and Tammy Aten. It has been a refreshing time of revival and renewal.

Tomorrow at this time, I will be heading to Nairobi to see our Kenyan son Robert Burk. Robert is working hard to graduate from High School and has begun a business in his home community of Siwa. It is a great time to be alive. A person can be in Texas one day and serving in Kenya the next! Wow, are you taking advantage of our times? This spring I am scheduled to be in Kenya, Chile, Mexico, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, UAE, and China, this Spring. If the Lord wills, i am living out the best salvation I know. In addition, Garrett is starting his Sr. Year of High School, Kayla is starting a business, Ashley and Corbin are educating the next generation and Debbie and I will be married 28 years this fall. Wow, it is only by the Grace of my Father that any of this is possible for a guy like me. I hope you have a Vision for your own Journey, and that you are discovering the fulfillment of that Vision through your walk with a loving and gracious Savior. Ok, a little preachy for the blog but hey, I"M ALL IN! Live fast as it is over soon, but most importantly, even if fast is not an option any more, make sure your living! Hey Guy's, I am in Andrews TX this week. It is an exciting time for the Church. They have a new pastor and family. M Brant O'Connor, his wife Dea, and their 5 beautiful children have moved from Josephine TX and have made a perfect match with the dynamic congregation. Andrews is growing like crazy, the school is full of christian teachers, coaches, administrators and school board. The church also is looking at an expansion project to expand the influence and footprint of the church in the community. Today I was able to join some of the athletes at the High school and remind them of the need to sweep the hurdles out of their life, recover daily and run focused. They were a great body of young men. This week I have had the privilege to work with Justin Graves, his wife Michelle, and their 5 year old daughter Gabi. They so remind me of when my little ones traveled with my wife and I. They have done a great job!
In other news, my aunt Joyce in Lubbock, TX passed away this morning and I will be at her funeral Friday. The children are strong and sensitive to the Lord. Can a Dad ask for anything more? Hey, I better run. Pizza Night! :) See ya soon!

Life Change in Longview

Let me introduce you to Jarvis. Jarvis is a middle aged African American man who stays at the mission in Longview, TX. He has recently begun to work with the bi-vocational pastor of the Solid Rock Bible Fellowship. Pastor Jace has not only been able to help Jarvis see that his future is bright and the disadvantages that has plagued his past can be overcome, but he has also got an amazing future if he places his trust in Christ. Jace repeatedly brought Jarvis to an encounter with Jesus as he continually exhibited the joy of a life walked in Christ. Well, on Sunday morning, Jarvis stood to his feet, took a deep breath of courage and walked to the front of the room to share with Pastor Jace Roberts and the rest of the congregation about his new relationship with God through Jesus and his desire to walk in his new life openly and public ally. Wow, what a joy it has been to watch Jarvis smile uncontrollably, sing with an amazing zeal, and grow at a pace that is mind boggling! I will try to include a picture before the week is over.

In family news, Ashley and Corbin have purchased their first home. Corbin was hired by TCC to teach freshman Literature as Ashley continues to serve at Fellowship School in Kenedale teaching high school English. Kayla has received her license of cosmetology, is working to make extra change at Rallyhouse, and has signed a lease on her first boutique in a salon. Garrett is doing well in his senior year, playing varsity baseball, and has begun touring Universities for his next step. Debbie and I had the privilege to travel with Jimmy and Annelle Gault up into the new England area last month. It was a great time of work, fun, touring, and eating too much great seafood! Ask Jimmy about his favorite Lobster. Hey, Mexico and China this month. Life is short, I'm getting slower, lives are slipping off into eternity, and the world is getting smaller every day! We have to keep going, even when life and humanity try to shackle us. For all of our friends in west Texas, I will be in San Angelo at the CVBA annual meeting on Nov. 1 Come see me! Hey, it is a beautiful spring day in JoBurg. Garrett is off with friends playing paintball and I am about to see friends from longtime partner Mayfair Baptist in Crosby. Tomorrow I will get to go to church at Harvest Christian Fellowship in Mulbarton (JoBurg) and in the evening address friends at the Mayfair Baptist. Unfortunately I have not had a chance to see friends from Bella Bella, Utienage, or Matatella, but Garrett and I did get to make new friends in Willowmore at the Methodist church. Pastor Steve Gruer invited Garret and I to come, and spend some days together at a game farm. I will not include pictures as some don't appreciate them as much as G and I do, but let me just say it was a bountiful week. Thanks to Mike and Joanne at Finchley Farm for helping Garrett and I to create life long memories. Well, its time for a meeting so I have to move. Living fast in the southern part of Africa, but ready to be home to see family and friends! Hey, remember, you only get one shot at this thing called living! It was a happy and sad day for me as I said goodbye to the team here and South Africa. It was Happy because it was an amazing team, and amazing time with our brothers and sisters in South Africa and it was an amazing move of God. All of us will be forever changed and forever closer as friends. I will try to put some pics on as they speak so much louder than I! Day 2 in the Books.

Well, the pic will not upload! Not sure why but day two was great! We were in three schools, two baby orphanages, door to door evangelism in a township! So excited to see things like Aaron Warren lead a person to Christ with no one but the Lord helping him, Garrett Burk, sharing his testimony and a witness with a woman ready to trust the Lord. I watched my two daughters hold baby's who were starving for affection. Philip has been a real Spiritual leader for the team, pointing out a word in just the right place. School assemblies where the team was used in mighty way's. It has really been a trip where each person has fit a need. They ask us to minister to the teachers at the private school and guess what? Dr. Toby Irwin was previously a private school administrator and teacher. Wow! What a deal! I will keep trying to up load the pics, but until then you will just have to read! Stay in touch and know if your person wasn't mentioned, God used them mightily, its just that I have to go. Brant preached at the school, Trace and Caleb are big hits with the children, Jimmy had his own class, Garrett T is becoming a real witness, and Kevin is just bold and speaking a word to everyone! Tyler has taken over and has announced he will be the President of TSEA when I kick the bucket! He is excited about the prison ministry tomorrow! Time has been great! Corbin, Judd, Tyler and Toby all led small groups tonight. Josh is still leading worship while being a witness and the host church is treating us like VIP guest! Hey, I really do have to go! Great begining in South Africa

Hey all, it was an amazing first day in south Africa. The team was incredible, the Lord spoke in life changing ways, and our host have been amazing. It is such a blast to watch people I have know for years being used in extraordinary ways. I really have been a bi-stander for the most part. The team is gelling well together and different gifts for different situations have been obvious. To all of the parents and spouses, the whole team is great and getting along well, all healthy and excited. It has been amazing. I wish everyone could have seen Garrett Taylor share his testimony to 300 high school students, or Tyler Springer preach the gospel to an open air crowd after visiting with a Muslim man about his faith. Caleb O'Connor and Trace Thompson have been amazing with the children. Ashley and Kayla are starting adoption proceedings for all of the orphans at the TLC home, and Josh has been a hit with the guitar. Philip and Garrett B are our praise, worship, and dance team, while Jimmy keeps everyone informed on the facts and trivia of South Africa. Toby is our wisdom, Brant and Judd are the leaders of the team, Aaron has become quite the soul winner in the one on one and I am the driver! Corbin has become or photographer and I will add better pics than these when we get everything lined up. Kevin is an amazing servant who is sharing his story, preaching, and cleaning up every chance he get's. Wow, what a team! Now our host! Nic and Brandon have worked themselves to death serving us and setting things up. Tegs and Nadine have worked overtime being exceptional host. What a trip. Tomorrow schools, orphanages and the prison. The Kingdom is growing and the body is maturing! What a day int he Lord. Hey all, the team is in Atlanta airport getting ready for the long 16.5 hour flight to JoBurg. We are all settled into the Delta Skyclub of terminal E. It is exciting to hear each one share their story, expectations, and life change experiences. We can not wait to get to South Africa and begin the journey. Camps almost over South Africa almost here.

Well, the last of four student camps is coming to an end this week. I am at Alto Frio with the students from the San Antonio area for master camp. It has been over 100 degrees each day and as dry as the locals have ever seen it. However, there have already been over 60+ decisions in just two nights. Praise the Lord.
On the 29th there will be 17 heading to South Africa for a mission trip partnering with the Harvest Fellowship in Johannesburg. Of the team, 13 are below the age of 25. Wow, what a great opportunity. The team will minister in schools, prisons, open air meetings, and churches while serving in South Africa. I believe it will be an amazing trip and I can not wait to see what God has in store. I promise to put up pictures and reports as we journey into His plan.
I also want to introduce the two newest team members of the TSEA team. Tyler Springer is now serving in a volunteer position as an intern with TSEA and Ashley Lockmiller is serving as our communication director. Both are volunteering their time while gaining valuable global experience in the Kingdom. Tyler is a God called preacher who has a passion for ministry in difficult places. It is our prayer that he will be a regular on trips to Pakistan, China, Cambodia and other parts of the middle east as we move forward with God's plan. Ashley is no stranger to TSEA, as she was there when it started. She is a high school English teacher who holds a Master degree in Media Communication and is going to help us do better at staying in touch than I have done in the past. Hey all, Rody and I are safe at home in the good ole USA. I must admit, I miss our friends in Pakistan. However, it is great to breath the same air as my family. Garrett won another baseball game tonight, (7-2) Kayla and Maw Maw froze being faithful fans. Ashley and Corbin are working hard and finishing their master level work. Debbie is in Austin caring for her Dad while her Mother is working. I am in Logansport LA for an outside area wide event. All is going well and I am catching up on a little sleep! Can you believe it? I am staying in Joaquin, TX and they have no cell signal! Ha Ha! It is a great place but is amazing that there is perfect signal, all be it expensive, in Pakistan but no signal in Texas? ATT is playing us all! This is the consequence of big companies through mergers and acquisitions creating monopolies reducing competition. Oh well, God bless America.
Hey, Rody and i can not thank you all enough for all of the prayer and support you gave during our time in Pakistan. it is our hope to expand the opportunities and enlarge the scope by next year. Our friends have already invited us back and we can't wait to see the world changed.

Last Night in Pakistan.

Hey Partners, we just finished the last night in Patoki Pakistan. It is almost 3:30 am, but I had to write to all of you worried I was going to be blown up. Mission accomplished. (Humm last time I heard that it was far from over! I have 21 hours of flying and 14 hours of waiting starting tomorrow morning at 6:15 am! ha ha!) What an amazing day today was. We started the day going to the St. Thomas School and learning to play cricket! We were doing well for a couple of US guy's until Rody hit the ball over the wall and into the sewer and we decided "GAME OVER!" Then we went to find shirts for the big game, home for a Pizza Party with friends for the first half of the world cup. [it's the Cricket World Cup played one every four years for my USA friends] Later we drove the 2 hour trip to Patoki and visited 2 new churches! Yup, that's right. Last year only one new congregation, this year two! Each running over 100 new converts. One of the highlights of the trip was meeting Yusef at the new church. Yusef is a friend I met last year who had many spiritual problems and issues. In fact on our first meeting he was completely out of control, bound by fear, and being self destructive. Tonight, he is a beautiful, handsome, intelligent, young man with a shy but courageous countenance, and a confident testimony of a new life in Christ. Now those of you that know me, know I'm not much on the whole possession/exorcist scene. In fact I avoid even talking about it as often as possible. However, Yusef, was in trouble. I'm no priest or anything, but when I was asked to help, I simply held Yusef tight, prayed for him, and trusted that God loved him even more than I could have. At the end, Yusef simply calmed and went to sleep. I left and thought I would probably never see him again. Then tonight, I was addressing the congregation when he walked in and immediately I recognized his eyes, but that was the only thing that was even vaguely the same! Yusef is my friend. We are both guy's that needed a lot of help from the Lord to be free. We will spend eternity together because of the love God has for us. What a real gift to see Yusef again!

We then left the church and headed for the soccer grounds where the event was scheduled to be. Everywhere we drove there were crowds of people sitting around TV Screens watching Pakistan play India for the semi-final match. I was concerned the crowd attendance would be low. Finally we arrived at the soccer grounds and noticed they had extended the seating area. As we patiently endured two hours of song, introduction, long prayers, and more songs, the crowd just kept coming. By the time Rody got up to share a little warm up testimony, the place was packed. There were conservatively between 11 and 14 thousand people there on the largest night we have ever had. No gifts, no gimmicks, just people who had received the night before bringing others with them. It was incredible! When the evening was over, there were more people who received a new eternal life than we could count. For those keeping score, it was easily over half the crowd professing Christ as their only Savior for the first time! Wow, how humbling is that? Rody and I had the privilege of watching life change right before our eyes.
Well, the mission is over, now it is time to pack the dirty clothes, drag ourselves to the airport, fly and wait, and get home by Friday evening. Saturday, I'm off to Louisiana for another great meeting in Logansport so no rest just keep moving! Hey, how many of these lives do we get? Oh yea! Just one! Gotta live fast! 1st Night in Patoki a huge sucess. Debbie turns 50!

Hey guy's, sorry for the delay in catching you up. I got in last night and just could not keep my eyes open. Yesterday we had an amazing time of Leadership training with about 25 Pastors and 75 other leaders. We spent most of the time training on a discipleship strategy that takes each new believer through a four stage process that ends with them taking new believers through the process. The response was amazing and the prep work our contacts did was perfect. Tonight we started the first night in Patoki. It appears tomorrow may only be a few of us, as Pakistan and India square off for the semifinals of the World Cup Cricket match. However, tonight's crowd was the largest we have ever had at Patoki. With estimated more than 8000 people, many having to stand outside the curtain, the atmosphere was electric. I led off with a simple testimony and warm up, then Rody Chesser stood and delivered a home run on being born-again. The Spirit was thick in the place as countless people [only heaven will be able to count] stood to their feet and professed Christ as their savior, entering a new spiritual life with Him. I remember when my son hit his first high school home run, or shot his first deer, how it felt. It was more fun than doing it myself. Well, I have to admit I felt a little that way as Rody spoke truth then led thousands of Pakistani citizens to Christ. It was an amazing encounter. Well tomorrow we are scheduled to play our first Cricket match in the morning, pick up some needed props for tomorrow night, watch the World cup, then go to Patoki for the last night of Crusade. Keep us in your prayers, and pray the people God wants to save will be stirred and even want to miss the game of the century for Pakistan and come meet the Lord. I will post a short video of Rody leading the public confession after the invitation. Enjoy! Hey, guess what? My wife is living faster than I am! Second night inYoungson Abad

Hey all, just a really quick note to bring you up to date on what is happening here. It is 1:30 am and we have a leadership conference in the morning at 7:30 and I am exhausted. However, I had to let you know about today. We started the day in local congregations followed by lunch. Then we left for the 2 hour journey to the campaign. Tonight was amazing. All of those who were hesitant last night returned tonight and it was estimated that more than twice the crowd of last night appeared. (over 10,000) There was standing room only and people standing outside the tent. When the response time was given there were literally thousands of people standing to declare their trust in Christ as leader of their life. I have some more video I will include later, but let me give you a short glimpse with a few pictures tonight and I will add video later. For all following the "where is David's Bag" story, I received my bag from PIA around 2 this afternoon. It was nice to have clean clothes for the meeting tonight...Thanks for all who have kept up and prayed. I love you all and will check in after some sleep! COMPEL THEM TO COME! Ha Ha!

Well guy's after a draining day, frustrating news reports, discouraging sentiments by local pastors, no bag or clothes from the airline, and even stops and investigations by city police, Rody Chesser and I finally made the 2 hour drive to Youngson abad. Upon our arrival at about 8:30 pm there was a disappointing crowd of around 900-1000 people present. It looked discouraging because there were over 5000 chairs set up and ample room for another 5000 on the ground. However, after resolving in my heart that this was ok, even if this is all we have to speak to and the only opportunity to speak, it would all be worth it, people began to appear. Before Rody shared his testimony followed by me sharing from the Bible, it was over there were between 5 and 6000 people there. By the end of the preaching, at least a third of those in attendance (mostly young men) were standing to their feet, raising there hand and trusting Christ and Christ alone to be their Lord and Savior. Wow, this is the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Amazing God. Well I am attaching my favorite photo of the night with the guards and a short video clip that shows the end of the message. I'm a little tired, dirty, and smelly and it is 2:30 am so I am going to take a shower and go to bed! Hey get a load of my Shalmar Kameez they picked up for me to wear. Rody and David settled in Lahore

Hey all, Rody and I have both made it to Lahore. Unfortunately, my bag is still missing in action. However, wearing the same clothes three days in a row seems not to bother anyone but me! Ha Ha! I want to say that all is going really well. there are some unexpected hurdles place in the path that are requiring some meticulous steps to navigate. Apparently, Terry Jones did burn a Quran on the 22nd, something our press failed to mention but has covered the newspapers here in Lahore. http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/304937 It was suggested by some of the local leaders that the meeting (beginning tonight) in Youngson abab should be cancled. However, after prayer consultation with our contacts and much preparation, we will go forward. Life is short, our days are numbered, we only get one chance, live fast! You know the drill! So here we go. I hope idiots like Terry Jones will someday understand the cost of their human and flesh driven acts, but hey who am I to say anything. Most of my life has been flesh driven! I guess but for His grace, there I go! Anyway, the people of Lahore are beautiful, wonderful, God created, beings of this earth, and I am so glad to get to love them. Let the fun begin! I had an uneventful(16.5 hours) trip to Dubai and am now waiting for 16 hours in the airport. Rody took the same amount of time to fly AA from San Angelo to Dallas. Yup! He is stuck @ DFW waiting for a re-route to Lahore. Other than slight inconvenience of not being together in Dubai, we are both well and looking forward to getting on the ground together in Lahore. The UAE is an amazing place where sand from the ocean floor is often excavated to create islands where multi-storied, 5 star Hotels are built. It causes me to think of the parable of building on the sand every time I am here.

As for me I am fine, the family is fine, and the contacts in Lahore are prepared and excited. On a sad note, longtime board member and friend of TSEA, Skeeter Tucker passed away early Wednesday morning. Skeeter was one of the finest personal soul winners I ever met. He loved to share his story of redemption with everyone he met. The night he died, he and his precious wife Debra had visited a friend with cancer in the nursing home. He wanted nothing more than for all he knew to have the same hope and assurance as he. Skeeter was the sole proprietor of Skeetebuilt motors in San Angelo. He often used his business as a place to launch into what was most important in life. Skeeter often sacrificed income for he and his family by helping someone in need and not charging them, but rather ministering to them. Skeeter was a remarkable man, amazing witness, and friend. He will be missed. His services will be Friday afternoon at 4:00pm at Johnson Funeral home in San Angelo TX.

Hey Hey! For the past 13 months I ave been involved in a fast track, on-line, residency Executive Leadership Master of Business Administration degree program out of Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ It has truly been a collaborative effort from my family, friends, colleagues, TSEA Board, churches I worked with, and a Cohort of 17 amazing people. I could only wish all that I have learned and been exposed too would have stuck. My mind is spinning with thoughts of application and illustrations that really changed my thinking from the inside out. For those of you who do not really know me, this was a tremendously challenging attempt for me. I am far from a scholar, and formal education has not been the easiest thing for me to engage in. However, the amount of self awareness obtained in the program, collaboration from my Cohort, and the overflow of grace from God allowed me to complete my work maintaining a 3.98 grade point average. That is all A's with one 93 A-. That is truly a miracle and example of God's sustaining grace.

The greatest part of the program was the exposure to business giants like Ken and Margie Blanchard, Colleen Barrett, Vicki Halsey, Ken and Jackie Freiberg and others. Can you imagine sitting down at a table and visiting with the President emeritus, creator of the Southwest culture, and now author Colleen Barrett and laughing over desert? Wow, what an amazing time it has been.
Well, I guess i have no excuse for not keeping the blog up to date. I promise to do better in the future. For today and this week, just take a little time to celebrate with me, thank Him for all that is, and rejoice because there are such quality people in your life! You are so important to me!

Well I was home for a bit and then gone, then home, then gone! My life! I got to see all of the kiddos while I was home. Corbin and Ashley celebrated their first anniversary this weekend. Wow, has it already been a year? Incredible. I saw Garrett play two games last night, and he is a better baseball player than I ever thought of being. He hits balls I would have just moved out of the way of. Kayla gave her first haircut this last week! [WOW Chelsea You are a real friend!] and it looked great!!!!!! I was so amazed and proud, but know she will never cut mine! Ha Ha! It is so fulfilling to see Debbie and my children growing up and living life. Kayla sang this week for a china mission meeting, helps with the student praise team and is always loving people who need it! Garrett had a great report card, is working on his PSAT and made a better geometry grade than I ever made in my life! I never even took chemistry and he aced that! Ashley is teaching High School English and speech![ that is so ironic, I have a child who not only speaks good English but can teach it! God is good! ] Someone ask me last week what Debbie does these days! Well, she is the booster club mom, goes to all games, helps with te hair products, taxis everyone's cars to and from the shop, keeps the house, fixes the broken things, paints the walls, does the wash, works at the church in the bed babies, host our small group, takes me to and from the airport, and that's just a few of her daily responsibilities. She told me she was going to get a job so she could rest! I leave next Thursday for China to be with 30 house church pastors and I can hardly wait. The Lord has given me a study on spiritual leadership and the opportunity to be with His choicest servants. Lonnie Diggs is preparing the trip, and Mom has produced all of the material and had it printed with a little help from Aaron Stapleton! It is really going to be a great opportunity the Lord willing. Well, the road is up and down, I get in the way too often, it is only His grace that allows this mess-up to keep going, He is aware of where I am and He is making me something I could not be and taking me places I could not go! I guess there is nothing to do but thank Him!!!!! I met some new people today, from Vietnam, Vegas, India, Chicago, and Spain. All of that just today! Still working on school, 3 weeks in these two classes then just 3 more classes! It has really been a valuable thing for me!

On a sad note, I will be leading the final service for Ruby Murphy in San Augustine, TX Saturday the 16th. ruby was one of our first and most passionate team members for TSEA Inc. Ruby passed away in her home in Willow AK at the age of 87. The pic was when she visited our home a few months ago in Arlington. Ruby will be missed here, but I guarantee she is making all of Heaven smile! :)

Wrap up in Columbia

Hey team, just got home last night from Columbia. It was an exciting time for all of us. We happened to be in Quibdo during carnival for a patron saint in that city. As a result there were thousands of people within hearing distance of the gospel, and only heaven knows the life change that took place. Here is a shot of me speaking to the crowd on Tuesday evening. I start an event with Westridge Baptist Church in Grand Prairie tonight. I am excited about the opportunity. On the 21st I head to XIAN China and have the incredible opportunity to lead 30+ house church pastors in Spiritual Leadership class. I am so excited about the opportunity in China. Night three in Quibdo a wet success

Well, the final night of the crusade turned out to be quite the event. Rain began just ans Brant finished his testimony. As I was speaking the people were running for cover. I gave a brief gospel message and some came to Christ but the visible results were minimal as people had run to take shelter. As the rain continued, a group of young believers from the Medellin Christ for the Nations school began to rap. The place filled again with thousands of people who absolutely loved and responded to the music and praise. Just as they finished a song the rain stopped. I shared a brief witness and offered another opportunity for people to come to know Christ personally. many responded just as the rain began again. When we left, the streets were filled with many thousands of people and the Lord's witness was planted. Who knows who all we will see in Glory. There was one story I wanted to relate to you. Today Paul got to lead two young (20 somethings) men to Christ on the street. This evening they came among the thousands and searched him out. They were so full of joy and excitement. They were all smiles and hugs and soaking up everything they heard. It was exciting to see the life change. Well, this is why we go. I miss you all and hope to see you soon. Second night in Quibdo an amazing night

Hey team, the second night of Crusade was incredible. The Lord used the last night of Carnival to attract in excess of 20,000 people to the area. It is estimated that between 4,000 and 5,000 people were seated and standing in the area of the event. Billy Frosch gave his testimony of how the Lord delivered him from a young alcoholic and drug addict who lost his father as a teen to murder. Paul Testa helped with the music and even led some worship this evening. Brant O'Connor preached in a local church this morning and built relationship this evening. When it came time for the message, I spoke to a very loud and moving crowd about the choice of the Rich Young Ruler. In spite of the festive atmosphere, hundreds responded and gave their lives to Christ. Gloria ah Dios! Keep us in your prayers tomorrow. Brant and I will lead a training for leaders tomorrow that will be very important. Billy and Paul will be doing door to door during the day and then Brant and I will speak tomorrow evening. All is gong well. I miss my family the most and all of you who are friends, but when you see what we saw tonight, it makes it bearable. Well, I better go, lot's to do before in the morning. First Night in Columbia

Hey Team, we had a good trip to Columbia. We are in Medellin with our contacts. We found out this evening, that due to the killing of the Farce Rebel Leader, our lives were threatened in Istmina. Therefore, they moved all of the logistics and preparations to a city of 700,000 named Quibdo. Pray with us for this city. We have had safe travel, great accommodations, a presentation abut the strategy for the crusade and are now ready to hit the bed in order to be ready at 5 am. I will do my best to keep you updated. Hey team, it has been a while and I can only say we have had so much going on it is crazy. The Lord is busy and has invited us to more than we have discovered His will to access yet. I am in Arkansas at a great fellowship in Bee Be. Union Valley Baptist Church is a rural location, with a great staff, with an amazing personality, who love to worship and be with each other. It has been a blessing to be here. The reason I am back is because I leave Friday with Pastor Brant O'Connor, Paul Testa, and Billy Frosch for our first work as a team in Columbia. We will leave Friday and return Thursday in time to start a meeting in Grand Prairie on Friday. Jeff Johnson and the band were leading worship, the rain was pouring! I started looking for boats. The roof was leaking! Kids were soaked! I stood up and just felt like God had already done His thing and so I just stood and said "some of you are already ready, you have been waiting all week, He has called you and is waiting for you to receive Him. We prayed and WOW! The largest response of the week. In all their were many more than 100 decisions for Christ this week. Students called to full time service, just a amazing week. Hey team, long time no communicate. I am at Alto Frio Baptist Camp this week with about 745 students. It has been great so far. Team TSEA members the Corkers and Kalnbach's are also here. Last week was a blast with Gary and Sandy Smith in Scotland. The weather cooperated and Gary and I got to play two of the most famous golf courses in the world. Yep, Carnustie Championship course and The Old Course at St. Andrews. Before that I was in Cali Columbia and we had an extremely productive time there. Kayla is a High Scool Gradate

Hey all, Ashley, Corbin, Garrett, Mom, Dad and Maw Maw joined Kayla Marie Burk in Pensacola, FL for her high school graduation. She along with 339 other class mates celebrated their accomplishment with wonderful commencement exercises and then a day (or two) at the beach. Wow, you should have seen Kayla and Maw Maw throwing the Frisbee in the gulf! Fresh fish, white sand, and Baskin Robbins were all on the menu. It has been a great time by all and now we are preparing to leave in a thunderstorm.

Since Benson, AZ I have been in Alexandria, LA, and Grape Creek, TX. It was great to see people come to life change in both locations. Grape Creek experienced a real week of life change harvest with over 35 people coming into a relationship with their God. It was fun to see all of the teenagers so engaged int he week.

Well, Next week it is off to Columbia, then Scotland, then the Crystal Cothran wedding, followed by youth Camp in Alto Frio, TX It is a busy time but hey, you only live once. In Benson AZ

Hey friends, it has been a while since I last wrote. I am sorry. I got to China and they blocked my blog. I got to South Africa and they had no Internet where I was so it has been hard to catch up. This week I am in Benson Arizona. It is nice and dry. Temperatures have been in the 70's. We are having good crowds and have seen God change some lives. No complaints. The kids are doing well and Deb is working hard to get ready for the spring. I have had a great time meeting new friends from all over the world. Since March 2, I have been in the air over 47,000 miles. Wow and I tired of those little seats. However, I have made some of the coolest relationships ever, seen God lead me in incredible situations, and have traveled this world. It has been too cool. I really miss my family though. Kayla was bothered the other night because some of her friends had been rejected by the church. I wanted to be with her as she hurt, but I was so pleased with her position. Garrett will be playing in his last baseball games this week and I will not be there but he is always the first to encourage me that I need to be doing what I do. I have such great kids. Ashley will finish all of her preparation for teaching high school in the school district this week and is excited about a new vocation and ministry path. I am so proud of their decisions. They are all three so much better than I ever was. Well, I will try to get some pics later but just wanted to say hello and let you know I am still breathing! Hey we are in Xian, but can't upload pictures. I will try to put some visual on when I get back to the US. Xian is a great city of 8 million people. It is a mix of new and old. There are great bell towers and watch towers with traditional style and architecture overlooking KFC, Starbucks, and McDonald's. Today Jimmy is viewing the Terracotta Warriors while I am catching up and this afternoon we will spend the day with the Schirmers and their life here in China. Thanks for keeping up with me. We had a great day of research and cultural understanding yesterday. We met a wonderful, lost, Chinese guide by the name of Jin. In Dubai and headed for home! Well it's been an outstanding adventure and it was hard to say good bye to our newest friends, but now it's time to be home! I am really looking forward to seeing my family! Here is a video of the walk into the new church in Patoki. What a cool day it was. I really enjoy being immersed into a different culture. I don't always do it well but I do always enjoy the adventure. I will only be home Wednesday! I get home Tuesday afternoon and board another plane Thursday with Jimmy Gault, and head for Beijing! Yep, it's hello/good bye and did you get the clothes picked up at the cleaners? Ha Ha! My wife is a jewel! She takes care of me. Well, I'm tired and dirty and so I'm quitting! New Congregation in Pakistan

Well, our time is coming to an end. We are packing and getting ready to board a plane back to the USA. Today was an amazing day. First of all we were in a new church that celebrated it's first day as a congregation. That's right, a new church in Pakistan. 107 people attended as members. Of that, 90 were new Christians within the last year, 80 have been Baptized, and 85 are involved in discipleship training. In addition, we have been able to support a Pastor working out there each week. Pastor Aslam leaves his family three to four days a week, goes to Patoki and works in the field. On top of that they purchased the land and constructed a building for $4,000.00 Wow, that's pretty cool! We then had experiences beyond my understanding and ability to solve, but once again God proved it is not about us. I have met so many new friends this trip, and renewed important relationships. I am exhausted and have school to do so I have to stop now! I will post again when I arrive home before getting on a plane to China. Bless you all as you bless me so much! Final day for Campaign

Well, Today there have been a total of 9 Bomb blast in the city of Lahore. The first two were suicide Bombers and over 45 people were killed with many more injured. The following seven have been neighborhood blast designed to scare and cause panic. No one has been killed in the last seven. We are fine, no panic here and just finished our last night of sharing Jesus Campaign. Tomorrow, Lord willing, we will instruct about 100 Pastors and leaders in faithful leadership. Over the three nights we saw over 7000 people respond publicly with their faith in Christ alone! Wow, how humbling is that? While many died in Lahore today many more have come to life. Night 2 Rody invites

Well another great night. Sorry for being late, I was so tired. This night the crowd was larger than ever. Many could not even be seen with the camera. There were many thousands who responded. Wes led in worship, I gave a testimony of the sacrifice of my wife and her love for me, and Rody brought a message of love and hope. Wow, catch the response. The second video is of the blast sight. It is so unique to be here. Terrorism everywhere, and yet " The Lord keeps your enemies away" We toured the blast sight yesterday, read of the World Vision personnel being killed then shared the Love of Christ with over 8000 Pakistanis. How can we do anything else? Thanks to all who are taking every step. Your gifts, prayers, and love are what allows our availability Your the team! Keep it up and I will do better to report! Hey FYI Garrett played in the winning effort of his baseball team yesterday and Kayla is on her way back from Florida this morning. The first night is in the books. Here is a little of the response time. It was amazing. To the best of our ability to count there were between 6 and 8 thousand people present and at least 30% responding publicly with a decision to trust Christ alone to be the forgiveness of their sin and Lord of their life. What a bold and courageous testimony in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan! Wow! Well it's 1:00 am here and I have a 500 word paper to write so off to work living fast! Enjoy the update! First day in Lahore

Hey Team, we are here and rested. I promise to update daily so you can keep up with our progress as well as our health. We arrived in Lahore to discover less than 24 hrs earlier radical fundamentalist Taliban had blown up the FIA [similar to our CIA] building in a Christian neighborhood. Several killed and injured and much damage. However, we are very comfortable at the Holiday Inn and feel very secure. Here is a little video of the three of us enjoying a nice morning. The Internet is supberb, food good, hospitality wonderful and preparations for tonight complete. I will send more when we have more. Keep us lifted and have fun with this! Hello to all of the family! Well, the first leg of the trip is done. Rody, Wes and I are all together in Dubai. We have a long layover here but have opted for the first class lounge rather than the Hotel since the rooms were 499.00 per night last year. All is really going well. I am feeling a little tired just now but we will have our first day in Lahore to rest. I know I am a terrible blogger, but I promise I will do my best to keep it updated while we are over here. 4k into a marathon!

Wow, I'm in a run! I just landed in San Angelo TX after spending the last four days in Phoenix AZ. It is a beautiful day in San Angelo here for the Dr. L J Latimer and Melissa Dickson wedding. Tuesday through Friday I completed my first 4 day residency with the Ken Blanchard school of Leadership. It was one of the most mentally stimulating events I have been in all of my life!!!!!! What a thrill to hear some of the greatest Leaders and Business minds on the planet discuss and talk about Organizational strategies, self awareness, stakeholder communication, etc....... Dr.Ken, Dr.Margie, Dr.Scott Blanchard, Professors Dr.Caren Siehl, Dr.Vicki Halsey, Taylor Carr, Dr. Colleen Barrett,[President emeritus Southwest Airlines]Dr. Kevin Freiberg, Sheldon Harris[founder and former CEO Cold Stone Creamery] and many others. Giants in the Field pouring themselves into me! Wow, how did this happen? Well, I have to admit I am a little overwhelmed and out of my league, but it will be a challenge and keep me growing. I was asked today if i was getting out of ministry! I laughed, then said I was too old to do anything else, then explained. When I go to Venezuela i learn some Spanish to increase my CQ [Cultural Quotient] When I go to Africa I eat what they eat, when I go to Pakistan I wear a Birka, if I'm going to love and understand Americans, I need to know the culture and language we now speak! It's all about personal growth in order to be all things to all men! Hey, can't do this any longer. Wedding tonight, Hebron Baptist in North Texas starting tomorrow, then Pakistan, then China, then Fielder Road. In the midst of that I will be doing homework! Time with Ru Ru

In 1987, my journey led me to Willow, AK. It was Ruby and William Murphy who became the people who facilitated all that would happen in me and my family life for the next three years. Debbie, Ashley and I served at the First Baptist Church in Willow AK as their pastor. Ru Ru and Peep [tagged this way by Ashley] were charter members, music leader, deacon, church hostess, treasure, and leaders of the fledgling mission. Since that time, the church has matured and grown, our work has evolved into a global mission, and Peep has gone on to heaven. It has been a huge pleasure for us to have hosted Ru Ru in our home over the last 4 days. each of us have aged and the energy level has diminished. We have two more, almost grown, children, Ashley has married, and memories are fading, but the stories are still just as exciting and always bring the good medicine of laughter when Ru Ru is around. What a blessing to spend a few more days making a few more memories with one of the most caring people who ever endured the trek of the Alaska Homesteader! Wow what a great day to be at home. We had a record snowfall of over 11" in Arlington. While there are set backs like broken trees and closed business, the beauty makes it all worth while. Garrett and Kayla have never seen snow like this at home and Ashley had not seen it since she was three and living in Alaska. It was perfect timing as I was home this week and do not have to leave until Saturday night. Last weekend I was in Cornerstone Fellowship in Haskell TX and this Sunday I will be keynote speaker for a Love Feast At Hillcrest in San Angelo and then Monday at the State Evangelism Conference in Arlington to listen to friend Herman Cramer along with other speakers. I have to say, the snow is fun. Iv'e made two batches of snow ice cream, hot chocolate is a big hit with the kids, and Debbie has family over who have lost the electricity! Catching up

Hey friends, this is my annual catch up post. My life has been in a tail spin and disorganized state of change in the last few months. This week I have had a lot of time to catch up on work, physical goals, spiritual sensitivity, and emotional cleansing. Wow that sounds so deep coming from me, but it's just been a nice retreat. I am in the most unique place I have ever been. Quartzsite AZ is a snowbird town. In the month of December it will be filled with 450,000 people living in campers and temporary housing. The church I am working with this week has about 400 people from all over on Sunday morning in the winter and about 45 during the summer. Pastor John Todor and his lovely wife Mythyl are an amazing couple. He is from Romania, she is from the Philippines and their daughter and son[J.J. born yesterday 8lb 7 oz] are from Quartzsite. They are truly some of the greatest people on earth. Due to a gracious couple in the church and the fact Pastor and his wife are out of town, I have had an amazing time to get right body, mind, and spirit.

With all of that said let me tell you whats up in my life. The kids are amazing. Kayla turned 18 in January and is seeking the next step in her journey. She is a great student who hates school and loves people.[wonder where she got that?] She has a gift for a voice and loves to sing and lead worship with her peer group at church. She drives all over town, has a boyfriend, and tons of other friends that see her more than I do. She is totally amazing. Garrett is in 10th grade at Arlington High School. Also a straight A student who is playing baseball for his school and often needs to be reminded that he goes to school for an education not a social event. Both of my children at home have an amazing love for all people void of the judgment and prejudice I observe in many of the places I go! That makes their daddy really happy.

Then there is Ashley! What happened to my sunshine? She grew up! She is now married to the most fortunate man on earth, is working on her Master degree in communication, and is working for an insurance broker in Ft. Worth. In addition, she and her husband, Corbin Lockmiller, maintain a home in North Arlington while he is working on his master and working for a pharmaceutical company. Ashley loves to sing and mentor girls through her 10th grade small group at church! Wow! how did Debbie and I end up with this? It is simple, we gave them to God at birth and He has shown what He can do inspite of our short comings! I am the greatest sinner and distraction to the work of God I know, yet He chooses to continue to bless, forgive, and give grace to me in ways I can not comprehend! I guess for now I will just keep moving forward, try to meet and love as many people around the world as He allows and bring a smile to the places I go. At least until it is over! Got to run fast, time is short. In March I will travel to Pakistan and China if I'm still here so keep me in your thoughts! I love you all,

Great Fall

Well, the fall is coming to an end and it was a fast but exciting three months. This fall brought about some amazing student events in places like Longview, Henderson, Kerens, Howard Payne University, Florence, Pleasanton, and our home Fielder Road in Arlington. In those meetings alone we saw in excess of 80 students place their faith in a Lord that loves them and is alive to make them complete and fulfilled. In addition, the highlight of the Fall was the wedding of our oldest daughter Ashley, to Corbin Lockmiller. The ceremony on the 10th was absolutely beautiful and fun. The reception was a blast of fellowship and fun! [Especially the Daddy/Daughter Dance! Ha Ha!] I apologize for those of you who drove so far and we did not get a chance to visit. It is impossible in that setting to get to all of the people who you want to love and talk to. :-( Thanks to all who attended and all who watched from a distance. I promise pictures are coming. A special thanks to all of our friends at Shady Valley, Arlington and City Club Ft. Worth, who worked so hard to make our evening so special!

Ok Well, Deb and I are off to Israel in the morning with a group of 40 led by our pastor Gary Smith. I will try to put some pics or videos up while we are gone! Love you all and remember! Live Fast, it won't last long! :)

In Henderson TX

Hey team, I am in Henderson Texas this week and guess what? Yup! It's raining! Ha Ha! All is going well here. The people are very gracious and extremely traditional but it has been productive. One of the roles I play in current social architecture, is helping people stretch their thinking. It has been fun to bring alternative scenarios and perspective to people who have mostly lived in the same culture longer than I have even lived. While I enjoy and have learned from their wisdom and experience, they have graciously allowed me to speak a more global and contemporary perspective into their thinking. That is challenging and exciting! I was at the middle school with students who raised their hands to answer my dialogue and still have a dress code! It was great. Great teens and great adult leadership. It was a little like stepping back in town yet real and productive. My life is totally incredible and I really diverse. Last week I was in Longview TX in a relatively new church with many recovered addicts and unemployed members. Here is a video of the new worship center at the Solid Rock Bible Fellowship in Longview. The Pastor is Jace Roberts and his wife Shelia. they had 14 people find a new life last week and Baptized 12 Sunday with 6 more coming this week! Way to go Solid Rock! Keep loving people and do it in a hurry! We don't have long here ya know!

Roller coaster

Wow what a week it has been! On Thursday I had the difficult honor of preaching the gospel for a friends family and friends in Ft. Worth. Last night I preached the gospel to a small group in Lake Deerwood by Lake of the Pines in east Texas. In Ft. Worth there was a capacity crowd with names like Vann Clyburn, Mr. and Mrs. Bass and some of the most influential people in Ft. Worth along with immigrants from Sri Lanka, Australia and the UK. At Lake Deerwood it was just over 20 people, many of whom were recovering addicts and lower income. Here is the point. The dress was different, music was different, style was different, environment was different, religious background was different, and the socioeconomic backgrounds were different. However, the message was the same! At the end of the day, we are all people who have fallen short of what we were designed to be, have led our own lives, and can not make ourselves good enough to be in the presence of the creator of the universe. But God loves us, sent His son to die for our shortcomings and independence, Jesus rose so He could save us, and as many as receive Him, those He makes the children of God for eternity! Well, that's more preaching than I usually do on here, but something tells me we all need to know that! In Longview today. Will try to bring some stuff from Solid Rock this week. Hey all, I am headed to South Africa tomorrow! [Wish you were going Larry] but I wanted to put a little more of the Venezuela trip on the board. Here is a couple of videos showing the value of what happens in the trips. Three things drive my existence on this planet. Two of them are good and the other is a continual project. Love God, Love people, and love of self. If I could just get the selfish stuff out of the way, I would be so much more productive. However, God made me who I am, I have altered that significantly but not enough that I don't know for sure He loves me every second of every day! Therefore, I'll just keep going, loving people and loving God and see where the journey leads. Thanks for keeping up, and know I love you! Back from Venezuela!

Wanted to bring you some pictures from our memorable Venezuela trip! We had a great time and saw many come to know the Lord, as well watched a new mission take flight in Adicora! In addition, we had a memorial service for C Ralph [ a T.S.E.A. first] and the most incredible trip home ever. We departed Coro at 4:am for Punto Fio[central time] arrived in Aruba about 10:30, got lost finding lunch, ate at Hard Rock Aruba and went to the airport! Arrived to discover they had upgraded me to First Class! Wow, great for me not so popular with the rest of the team. We arrived in Atlanta around 7:00 pm only to discover there had been a ground delay due to morning weather. At about 11:45, we finally boarded and you guessed it! First class! Along with a family from Afghanistan where mom, dad, and 5 children were running fever, had a rash all over there body, vomiting, and other symptoms! Yep, quarantined on the plane until 3:00am, arrived home at 3:30, showered, shaved, and back to the airport at 4:30, flew to Vegas at six, performed wedding for Kylan and Kimberly Wilson at 1:ooam, ate at the reception, went back to the airport, lost $5.00 in mechanical slot machine[ a first for me and I am not gifted!]and arrived home at 12:30 am Sunday morning!!!!! Today I write from my lunch break at jury duty! I have to be there for a 1:00 trial! Yup! Oh well, life is good. Having lunch with daughter Ashley and couldn't get better!!!!!!!! Live fast! Well, if it is any indication of what is to come, I ended the evening dropping my phone into the sink full of water. Those who know me will understand this will be like a fast for me! How can I go to sleep without my phone on my chest vibrating through the night with messages of huge importance? How can I awake without my phone alarm? How can I walk through the day without text, email, and messenger? Wow, this is going to be an old fashion mission like in the 90's! Ha Ha Oh well, I will be out of touch so see ya next week! 65 participate in Beth-El Ministry

I along with 64 others spent the day at Beth-El Fellowship in White Settlement, TX today. This is a group of people who are committed to a ministry to special needs families, specifically those who have a family member with Autism. It was too cool to watch teens, adults and senior adults work together to paint walls, remove shrubbery, build walls, remove floor and wall tile, and paint ceilings. This group was incredible! They accomplished three days work in one day and are anxious to return tomorrow through Friday to do more. I have to be the most blessed man in the world. I have friends from all different cultures, continents, people groups and lifestyles, and none greater than the ones I worked with today. I promise to put pics up this week, but be sure we will be tired and sore but incredibly fulfilled after this week is finished. Stay tuned for more. Gotta catch a few winks and then get after it. Life is moving by. Stay engaged!

The King of Pop is gone.

I am heading home from a student camp in Arkansas and listening to the comments, remorse, grief, hatred, and admiration of Michel Jackson. While he was one of my own contemporaries, and I did have the words to ABC and Rockin Robin memorized as a child, I never really appreciated the genius of his talents until I was older. Unfortunately, Michael Jackson is the model of so many in my generation. He was gifted beyond the normal, prospered above almost anyone else, and yet never found contentment in life. He was used and taken advantage of by those most closely related to him, and he never found innocence in a relationship. In the end, he died long before the reality of his short existence came to him. I was at a youth camp when the news came and I announced it to the students that the King of Kings is still alive, but the King of Pop was dead. Then it happened. More than half of the attenders clapped and cheered. It was more than I could stomach. What in the Heck are we thinking? Michael Jackson was a beautiful, creative, innocent, talented creation of the God of the Universe. Life with sin skewed this reality and separated him from his eternal purpose, but it was the purpose of God to save him from himself every last second until he breathed his last. [this is the same reality each of us live with] But my question, how can we be raising another generation within the church who are haters of God's creations? Well, this group may have learned a little something last night, and 126 entered into a perfect relationship with their God this week. Michael is gone, as each of us will be soon enough, and we can only hope that the God of the Universe worked eternally in his heart and life before his passing rather than slipping off into hell eternally separated from life. If my article disturbs you and you don't rejoice in the good news, you might be one of the ones who is calling yourself the church without the love and compassion of Christ in your heart. If so, do us all a favor and stay home this Sunday. Spend some time with Him and either let Him change the way you see people or stop calling yourself the church. Hey guy's,

time is flying these days. I was in a conference all day yesterday with some great friends and about 1500 others. We concentrated on momentum more than anything else. One of the things that was brought out is that momentum is forward motion fueled by a series of wins. As I thought of that I was reminded that I start each new day brand new. Therefore I can begin each day with a naturally inherent momentum fueled through the day by the wins that come by choosing to make productive choices and avoiding the unproductive choices.

Well my life is moving so fast right now, but in a good way. My future son in law, Corbin, graduated with honors from ENSU Saturday, Ashley got hit in the mouth with a putt putt golf ball but still has all of her teeth, Kayla has "friends" coming this weekend, and Garrett is still playing baseball, racquetball, and excited about going to see the Rangers beat the Yankees Tuesday.

Well for me, May is just about over, Fielder events are going well, [I'm preaching May 31 in the 11:00 service] Camps are about to get started, and life is a blast. To be honest, I could not even think of anything that could be better than life!!!!!! It's great as long as you take time to live it. I do wish I could connect with you guy's a little more but hey, we are still here so let's keep moving, and see if we end up on the same train some day! Love you all and can't wait to see ya! Back in the USA

Hey everyone. I am back on the ground in the good ole USA today. I have the fortune of a night in the city an my way back from Venezuela. It was a great trip and there were exciting things that took place. Not only did the wedding go incredibly well[until 5am] but i was able to visit with friends in Venezuela, Aruba, and in New York. In addition, I have been able to meet a considerable number of new acquaintances along the way. On Sunday morning, after only three hours sleep, I preached at my home and original church, Alpha y Omega. Not only were we able to watch several go through a life changing encounter with the Lord, but the church experienced a tremendous time of renewal and excitement about their future. You had to be there, but it was incredible. Here is a short clip of the wedding. I am on my way home early in the morning and can not wait to spend six whole weeks at home with my family. Pre Easter and Kermit!

Hey everyone, I am in the big city of Kermit Texas! Kermit is an oilfield community that was booming last year and busting this year! I am staying at the Kermit Inn and it is almost empty but for me and Wes James who is leading music this week. But hey we are having a great time with some great people and Alfredo Nunez experienced life change last night! Yea! Here is a picture or two from the pre-Easter retreat down in the hill country of Texas. It was great, about 740 students and a beautiful setting. It was too cool to see students of all backgrounds and socioeconomic groups having a blast together. It was also great to be with some friends and family while I was there. Kayla is the reluctant volunteer in pic # three! Ha Ha! OK well, I leave here Wednesday night to go to Venezuela for the wedding of Arturo Gomez, then New York to check out a mission possibility, then back home for the Retreat in Glenrose and home for the whole month of May. Last week was the annual Disciple Now weekend at our home church, Fielder Road Baptist Church. It was a blast to have over 200 teens and 100 adult leaders involved in a time of team building and relational growth with God. In our home we had 8 High School senior guy's and a college minister. One of the highlights was sitting on the back porch, cooking steaks around a camp fire, pretending we were far from the city! In the shot is Ashley[ aka "Big Sis" ] handling Garrett [ aka " little G" ] during the gladiator moments! What a great time to see students interacting in civil, harmonious and fun context for a whole weekend! Wish you could have been there! Well, I am off to Wichita Falls tomorrow, Leaky TX for the weekend, Kermit for Easter and Venezuela after that! Gotta live fast, because time is short!!!!!!!!! For some of you who question this philosophy and are moved toward the "Religious" sector of society, check out Romans 13:11! This is no time to sleep! No time for "Religion"Time is ticking away!!! Hey I am wrapping things up here in San Angelo. It has been a great time with Belmore and Bro. Toby. I will head to Houston this evening and meet with a bunch of men eating fish tomorrow night! Then I'm headed home Thursday night. I am including another video from Kenya, but first I want to give some shout outs! Josiah is an electrician, new Daddy and fine young man in Siwa. On our first mission several years ago he worked with Frank Boldt and Loal Wilson to wire the Orphanage, School and Church. While working he was also learning. Today he owns his own electric business, has received his electrician license, and has a new Name for his company! Right Electric! Do it right or do it twice![Heath and I helped with the name and slogan! Ha Ha!] Josiah has adopted the idea that life is short, live fast and is being used for significant purposes in the Rift Valley! Go Josiah, do it right or do it twice! Behind again

Well, Kenya is in the books, D-Now at the Field House in Arlington is in the Books and I am over half way with the meeting at Belmore Baptist in San Angelo. I will try to update in a few blogs here on each event. In this article I will include a video of some of our time in Kenya. This is the students sharing a traditional form of worship with the team on Sunday. The King and I exchanged arms spontaneously, he was amazing at ad-libbing the theme. It was fun! In future videos I will show some of the work Gene, Kayla, Chelsea, and Heath participated in along with the Kenyan friends. It was hard work, but we saw people experience life change, a church building put up, and a congregation praising God for what they called a miracle. Enjoy now and I promise more to come. All ready in Kenya

The team is now on the ground in Nairobi, and Emmett Corker has made it to Texas. I have not heard from Richard Green, but I assume no news is good news. It's 5:30 am in Nairobi and all the volunteers are tucked nicely in bed resting for the demanding schedule that starts tomorrow. Kayla Burk, Chelsea Nelson, and Heath Clem joined Gene Hansen and I in Nairobi last night. We will depart from here this afternoon and land in ElDoret. We will then be transported to Ziwah by Matatu[taxi van]to the home of James Sawe. Sunday we will go to church with community members and begin work on the church the following day. Monday - Friday we will serve with community Kenyans to help complete an African Inland Mission Church. In the process we will love all Kenyans and provide salt and light in a community of beautiful people. Please keep up with us, but understand that there is no Internet in the area where we are serving. Therefore I may not be able to write again until next Saturday. Pakistan in the books

Well team, we are finished with the work in Pakistan. In about 6 hours I will head to the airport and prepare to meet the team in Kenya. Yesterday we held a leadership conference in Patoki. Today we spoke at a christian school. The trip has been a huge success. We saw many thousand first time decisions for Christ, trained leaders in discipleship, and established an apostle like ministry in Patoki where Pastor Aslam will begin by going to train new believers and leaders as well as evangelize new explorers three days a week. As time progresses and funding grows he will move his family to Patoki to live full time. How can you help but thank the Lord for His goodness. Our family in Pakistan has been unbelievable. They not only have cared for us tremendously, but they have worked tirelessly. We are going to miss them until we meet again. I must pack so I will not write much tonight but I will include two video clips for you to observe. Love you all, gotta keep moving before time catches up! Live fast!

Last Night

Hey guy's it is 2:30 am and I must get up in three hours to go to a pastors conference but I wanted to check in. We completed the final night of the outdoor crusade. There were more people this evening than any so far. Cork thought more than any meeting we have had so far. Well, to say God showed up in the house would be an understatement. Again, the house went from loud and busy to still and quiet and thousands of people stood to their feet confessing a new relationship with Jesus. I found myself preaching to the most religious culture I have ever been in about the need to walk away from religion and receive Grace and relationship with the creator of the Universe. Two nights, One more tonight

Hummmm, things are heating up over hear, they have declared today Black day and scheduled protest throughout the country. Tomorrow is the day all Islam Celebrates the Birth of Mohammad. Tonight, I will be sharing the Love of Jesus with 6 to 7000 people in the suburb of Lahore called Patoki. What a world! Last night was truly unbelievable. At least 1000 more people than the night before. Cork shared his testimony, Richard preached, and I prayed for those in need. [those who know me know how hard that was!] Ha Ha! Tonight all is well with us. A little tired and under the weather but nothing serious or able to slow us. In our weakness He is made strong! I have a short clip of Cork sharing with the crowd. Hope you enjoy! Tomorrow, we have the privilege of addressing 100 pastors and leaders. I'm supposed to teach them something? You have to be kidding. I will simply encourage them in their struggles I know nothing of. I have had a blast meeting every member of the staff at the Holiday inn. My name sounds so boring! Ha Ha! I will not remember their names and they will forget mine, but the smiles, laughter, kindness and love will forever be in all of our memories. I pray each one will remember the part of me that is not me and someday seek the one they saw! Well way to philosophical for me. Must be tired! First night in the books!

It's 3:00 am and I just had to mention this evening before I go to bed. have you ever had one of those times that you just knew was different and supernatural? Well, tonight was one. Lot's of Pomp and circumstance, children up front making lots of noise, people moving about, then all of the sudden it was grave yard quiet. Other than the voice of myself and the Interpreter and the distant sound of the generator's purr not a sound. No one moving. You just knew this was a special moment in history. I found my unworthy, sin scared, ADD, filthy minded body being used by the God of the universe to speak to individuals. I spoke of the free gift of eternity offered through the righteousness of Jesus to any whom would receive it. Not offering religion, a life style, or even new purpose, I spoke of what the bible calls the propitiation of sins[ yea I don't know what the term means either!I did not mention it. Ha Ha] but I know God gave his son to be the payment for my screw ups and if I'll receive Him and He alone to be my Lord and Savior, I am His forever. Then all of the sudden, with every eye fixed, I asked who believed what they had heard from God and would receive Him. Thousands of men, women, children, and students, rose to their feet, raised their hand and prayed allowed a confession that Jesus Christ and Christ alone was the one they trusted, then they gave their lives to Him! Wow! What happened? Well the Lord just humbled me beyond expectations that He would use someone as fragile and weak as I to draw people to Him. You know folks, don't waste your time on something as superficial and defeating as religion, when you can have life free of charge and free in Him. I don't deserve it, I cant explain it, I just know I have Him and He makes me love each of you in an incredible way! Gotta go to bed so I can get up! Stay tuned, I'm still breathing! In Pakistan

Well, Cork and I arrived in Lahore today. We went directly to the place where the attack had taken place two days before. In broad daylight we stood and paid respect for the fallen officers and took video for our archives. We then checked in to our Hotel only to be told to stay inside as a large protest of 50000 people were marching on our street. I went to the roof to look over where there was a sniper perched for riot control. To say this is exciting is an understatement. So one might ask, "why are you there?" You think you are a Cowboy? Are you on an adventure rush? Mid life crisis? No to all, it is simple. people in Lahore Pakistan need to know God, Americans, and David Burk loves them. It is all about people. I have crossed paths and connected with literally hundreds of people in the last 8 hours that now know someone loves them. I don't know about you, but for me that was always important. So, I miss my family, my work, my friends , and my colleagues, but there is hope and opportunity for all of those to spend eternity with me. For now, I am just hoping to love someone into a personal walk with a God that created them and loves them. I will try to write each day and bring pics starting tomorrow! For now, I gotta go! People to see, goat parts to eat, and bullets to dodge! [ just kidding] hey, stay tuned! Love you all!

January flew by with Garrett making his high school baseball team, Kayla making the praise team at her church, Ashley confirming plans for her wedding and enjoying her first semester without school in 15.5 years. She is planing to start grad school in the fall. Garrett and I finished our hunting for the year. I have traveled to Hebron north of Sherman TX, and now sit in Del Rio TX. Last week I served with our team at FRBC in Arlington during a Team Impact event that saw over 600 people experience life change. In addition I attended two evangelism conferences, an annual retreat for Texas Evangelist, and have begun helping the student ministry in the absence of a full time guy at our local church.

I want you to think of the picture I have placed in the blog. This is the deer blind Garrett and I sit in waiting on some unsuspecting innocent deer to come strolling by. We sit in relative comfort, protected from the out side elements, and invisible to the dangers and goals of our hunting experience. We place corn a distance away to attract the prey but not so close as to make it uncomfortable. When a species walks up that is acceptable, we actively engage and claim our trophy. Now I know it sounds funny, but it triggered something in my thinking. Do you realize that is exactly how most unchurched people view the church? Hummm. Think about it a second. Something has to change. We have to get out of the blind, become exposed to the elements, take on the challenges and discomforts of the culture and love people rather than overtake them. Oh well, enough preaching. Gotta go!

I leave March 4 for Pakistan with three gentleman, go from there to Kenya to meet my daughter Kayla and three others then home the 20th! Keep me in your thoughts and prayers and know David Burk loves you no matter what! Live fast, it's over before you know it! :-) David

We have hit the ground running[figuratively] at the Burk house. The schedule is full and the challenges are exciting. Next week we head to San Angelo for our annual board meeting and winter revival with Northridge Baptist Church. My next overseas trips will be in March. We will first return to LaHore Pakistan for an exciting and adventurous penetration into the Islamic Republic, then i will meet a team in Nairobi Kenya to work with a church and our friends in the Lemoru area. In addition, our family is active in our home church and community as well as enjoying this time of year together. [even though Ashley seems to spend too much time in New Mexico! ha ha] Love hearing from you all and look forward to our crossing paths this year. Move fast, time is short!

Graduation for Ashley

Sorry it has been so long, I have a lot to catch up on and will begin with graduation. Yes, Ashley Dawn Burk graduated in 3.5 years with a 3.62 GPA from Dallas Baptist University. She is the owner now of an earned Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Spanish and Psychology. She is the first member of her family on her mothers side to achieve a degree, and the first from her immediate family to do so. She was the picture of class and sophistication during the exercises only overshadowed by her humility and graciousness. Her Mother and I could not have been more pleased with our first born. Here are a few pics. Her mother and I, her grandparents, and the family with a couple of extras from New Mexico. Well, that's enough for now. For those who have been following my life, I have been working on completing a degree I started 28 years ago. Today, I took my last Final and Aced it!!!!!! I have no more labs, quizzes, exams, discussion boards, text or professors to make a part of my hectic life. I am DONE!! Thanks to all who helped me through this, you know who you are. I feel a little dumb, my daughter did in 3.5 years what took me 28! Hummmmm! Oh well, now to more important things.
Reagan took her first week of Chemo and a full regiment of radiation this week. It was not easy and she suffered some nausea and discomfort. However, after the first week, her numbers look very good! God is doing His thing! Way to go Reagan, she is so much tougher at six than I am at 46! Please continue to pray for she and her family! This is a long and tough grind, but Victory is waiting in the wings. As you think about Christmas in the days to come, remember Reagan and how God sacrificed His Son, so we can all experience the victory of life in Him! Love you all! I don't usually take a serious approach to this blog, but today I want to unapologeticly enlist you to walk with me on this. Reagan is a beautiful six year old girl from Ft. Sumner New Mexico. She and her family are friends of ours as well as family in Christ. Reagan has been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and has just begun her journey through chemo therapy and radiation. She is taking on the battle like a champ and victory is certain at the end, but it will be a tough season to go through. The Bible tells us that when one member of our family suffers, we all suffer, and when one is victorious, we all rejoice. I want you to get in on the rejoicing that is sure to come. I will try to put periodic up dates on this blog and if there is a better info page in the future I will pass it on. For now, let's join Dad Clifford, Mom Molly, and Brothers Zach and Reed by praying for Reagan and cheering her on to victory! Here is a picture, isn't she beautiful! She is definitely a winner! GREAT DAY AT FIELDER ROAD!!!!!

You know, I would not be a member of a church that did not love all people of all backgrounds and context. Yesterday was an exciting day at Fielder Road. Our Pastor, one of the most compassionate and gifted men I have ever had the privilege of listening to and be led by, expressed the vision of connecting with the world for our congregation. I had the opportunity to be a small part of that dialogue where we saw the international impact Fielder was having. Christmas boxes to children, leadership training in India, discipleship and evangelism in China, sun cookers being developed and distributed throughout the continents of Asia, Africa and the middle east, partnerships in South America through Venezuela brothers and sisters, and life groups in San Fransisco CA were just a glimpse of the places being positively impacted by the presence and influence of Christ. You know what's great about all of this? This is not legalistic, binding, judgmental religion. On the contrary, this is relational walking with Him as He loves the world! That's what it's all about.. Yesterday after church, I did not go home and hurry through lunch in order to be at the next event so I could "Prove" my righteousness to everyone. I went home with a friend, his two preschool boys, and my family. We ate boxed chicken, watched football, and talked about the difficult time he is having in the absence of the boy's mother. In short, we just loved and encouraged each other while discussing our failures and weakness. All the while, Christ was loving us and saying" I have a plan and purpose in your life, just hang with me." That is so liberating!! Then I watched the Cowboys squeak through another game with other friends and went to bed at peace with myself! You know friends, I'm pretty much a mess like the rest of you but God loves me and has a plan for me. He loves you and has a plan for you. Just chill, take a deep breath, be willing to be loved, and trust Him! Hey life is short, can't waste time worrying about our failures, we might miss or victories! Ha Ha! Well have to run. Well, it was a great weekend, and as soon as I locate my camera I will publish some pics! Leaving McGregor on Wednesday night, I boarded a plane for Anchorage at 6:00 am Thursday morning. Arrived to 17 degree temperature on the most beautiful day I have seen in AK since 1987. The sky was totally clear, the snow was beautiful and from 800 ft. off the ground I had a full panoramic view of the Alaska range! It was gorgeous! I then went to the Hotel, took two test, got up early and drove to Kenai to be with our friends the Cress family. Rehearsal on Friday, Wedding for James and Margaret Cress on Saturday then 370 miles back to Willow. I spent the night with our original Alaska Grand mother Ruby Murphy, then got up and joined Glen and Nancy Little for church at the Bodenberg Butte Baptist Church. [The original stomping grounds for Sarah Palin] Glen and Nancy were the area missionaries when I Pastored in AK and Glen was my constant encourager and mentor. Since that time they Pastored the FBC of Valdez for 16 years and recently retired to the Palmer area. It was not long until the Butte church[ a church Glen was instrumental in starting many years earlier] coaxed them from retirement and are now growing and impacting the community around them.

While Glen is a great Pastor and teacher, Nancy is the inspiration. Six years ago, the Lord brought her through a tragic automobile accident on the ice. Nancy now serves from a wheel chair, paralyzed from the abdomen down. What is amazing is the spirit and joy in which she serves. I have to admit, I felt a little guilty for my immature whining when I'm a little uncomfortable. Kudos to Glen and Nancy, they are the best. Well I spent the afternoon with them and then hopped on a plane and was back in Dallas by noon Monday! Isn't this a great time to be alive? Wow! What an opportunity to impact the world. While speaking at the church was amazing and hearing how God moves is exciting, the people I met on this trip is what keeps me going! Angela at the Taco Bell, Marc at the Hotel, Vern at the taco stand, all people who are really different than me but loved by God! Why does He let me meet so many of these special people? I don't know but I sure do enjoy. Well, time is ticking away and there is much to do and many to meet! I love you all and will include some shots soon. Live fast, it's over before you know!

An Historic Day in McGregor, TX

Well, as I rose this morning, had some time with the Lord, drank some fresh coffee, and listened to the replay of some historic speeches. I kind of got excited about what is coming. I sit here in a small town outside of Waco, TX, with a somewhat surreal and philosophical mood. While I do have great concern about the governmental ideology and lack of defined character that seems to prevail this mosaic called America, I am excited that we have overcome deep seeded prejudices that had no more depth than the mere color of a persons skin. This shallow and sickening segment of our country has now been marginalized by a generation who has grown beyond it. Now the question comes, will this new paradigm of thinking be able to govern in the tradition of citizen participation and responsibility that has made this the most powerful, merciful, and compassionate country in the world? We will see.
In short, it has often been said this is not about race. In reality it has all been about race. It is time, and He was chosen. Barak Obama is my new President. I will often stand with him and often stand against him, I will voice my support as well as my opposition, I will participate in the process while encouraging my fellow Americans to keep looking outward rather than inward. Ultimately, I will pray daily for Barak Obama as God uses Him to fulfill His purpose in this country. I pray he will lead, not allowing others to play him. If He succeeds all will be better off and if he fails, we will just replace him! What a country! In reality, my job remains the same! I just live to love all people in all places and give them a hope that is eternal! Well, that was awful serious and introspective for this blog! I promise not to let it happen often! Ha Ha! Hey let's get movin! Life is short and time is moving on. I spoke at a nursing home yesterday and it shocked me at how well I related! Ha Ha! Well, its all about energy now! Let's get after it! Well, had a great week with the Sherwood Baptist Church in Odessa. What a great fellowship led by a great Pastor Ivy Shelton. It was a pleasure to be with them and to see God alive and well in this congregation that is adjusting to love their community. It was a great week. Now I am in Ft. Sumner New Mexico with my daughter Kayla. Yes it is the FOX and VIXEN homecoming and Kayla came to experience Zach's senior year event. I came to keep an eye on Kayla. As seen in the picture, she makes him look really good especially with the flower his MOTHER MADE HIM BUY! [Thank you Molly] I'm sure it will be a great time by all! I leave here and head to Balko, OK this weekend. Got to run now. Life ticks away fast and gotta keep movin. NO MORE NEW MEXICO BOYS!

Since they were born I have been teaching my daughters that they do not need but one man in their life and I am He. I have whispered in their ears at night men are bad. I have taught them everywhere we go that boys do not receive brains until they are at least 35 years old. I have taught them that color, language, socioeconomic backgrounds are irrelevant and we should never judge someone by their color, language, or financial status. All boys are bad no matter where they are from!!!!!!!! Well, it did not work. Garrett and I find ourselves being invaded with aliens from New Mexico. Both coming in the disguise of short term missionaries to Africa! HA! I will never fall for that again. Please remember Garrett and I as we deal with these temporary obstacles to our peace. Debbie seems to deal with it all with grace and contentment, she usually does. Perhaps her many years with Garrett and I have worn her down, but we will fight until the end! No Surrender! [Humm, perhaps a new association? NSEAInc?] You may wish to keep Zach and Corbin in your prayers as well. There is a lot of training to be endured! How time flies!

Wow how time flies. I apologize for being so negligent with my posting. There has been much going on and I will attempt to slowly bring you up to date. I have been traveling each week and we are seeing the effects of change everywhere we go. Some of this change would be considered negative change, but much of what I see I see with optimism and anticipation. I will start by throwing up a couple of Alaska pics from me and Garrett. We spent 8 days out in the bush with no phone, car, computer, tv, electricity, water, bathroom etc....... It was a great time together with our friends Jon and Jed Cress. While in Alaska I was able to attend and speak at FBC Willow where TSEA had it's beginning. It was a great privilege to share and observe the growth and maturity of that great church. In addition to the trip to Alaska we have been in Haskell TX, Jewett TX, Leedey Ok, and heading for Odessa TX this weekend. In addition to the travels and ministry, the family is growing up, actively involved in the church and community, and my girls have ignored their daddy's counsel and have begun to interact with the opposite gender. What are they thinking? At least Garrett is still focused on the priorities of life [baseball, school and Daddy times] and defending his space from the many young ladies attempting to invade! Great week and team on the way home

Hey everyone, the team is in the air and all went incredible this week. We were delayed in Atlanta so when we finally got to JoBurg we hit the ground running!!!!! Everyday we were in a different village each day. We served in schools, door to door visits with those who were in need or sick, had services in the village and just loved people. All of this was under the direction of Jan and Erica Viljoen of TSEASA ministries in Warmbath. It is amazing the impact they have with so few resources. God just continues to use them in powerful ways to reach so many of the "least of these" We gave love and hope to many with HIV/Aids and many were gone from our visit last year. One day we were in fingerkraal, a community of Namibian refugees left from the Angola war of the 70's. The entire village is HIV/Aids infected and starving. Jan and Erica minister each week with those who have no other hope. They do it in the power, strength, and name of Jesus. Many there are my brothers and sisters in Christ and will be with me in total equality in heaven someday. I look forward to that day especially for them. Wow, we are so blessed and have so much in the good ole USA! Hey I am off to Port Elizabeth and will be home the 31st! Live fast, it only a breath and its over! Love you all!

All the way to Atlanta

Well, God has a purpose. After two days travel, we have made it all the way to Atlanta!!!! Yup, we got into Atlanta late because of "weather" and Delta graciously allowed us to rent our own Hotel room and put us on the next day flight! Oh well, there have been great acquaintances here and many new contacts so He is in charge and we will get there Sunday. The shirts we are all wearing[a TSEA first] are the results of something God spoke in me Sunday morning listening to my Pastor teach on the person of David. I wrote on my worship guide, "just after His heart!" it is amazing how many people have commented on the phrase. By tomorrow they should really have comments after each of us have worn the shirt for more than 72 hours! Ha Ha! Anyway, everyone is in good spirits, we had a great night sleep at the Airport Crowne Plaza, and will give it another try in a couple of hours. Keep living, it is a great life if you just live it! Oh Yea, a great divine appointment. On the shuttle to the Hotel we mat one of our heroes Pvt 1st class Adsell. He was home on leave because his mother has breast cancer. [Cindy] On the shuttle we were able to pray with him, share of Christ presence and love and seek a touch for his mother. It was too cool!

Last night in Arkansas

Just wanted to check in with you before I leave Siloam Springs tonight. We had a great night, we have had 97 come to know the person of Christ personally. That in it's self was exciting, but even more exciting to me was the decision of my own niece who came over from Colcord OK. Candace is co/valedictorian of her senior class, is registered as a freshman at John Brown University, is active in her church youth group, but last night had a personal experience with Christ and placed her faith in Him. What a deal! Here are a couple of pics! The camp staff is great, and the Band[Elliot, Michael, Ryan Carder, Dustin, and Evan] is totally used of Him, and the volunteers rule! Arkansas State Youth Camp

This week I have had the great pleasure of being in Siloam Springs AR at the state Student Camp for Arkansas Baptist teens. There are over 930 students here and over 67 of them have already come to know Christ personally this week. In addition, many are making life change decisions that will change our world. The theme this week is Understanding God Love You! It has been an incredible time. The team is amazing. I am working with David James from the Collegiate Campus ministry in Arkansas. Pat and Patsy Bachelor are doing a great job of coordinating the entire camp ministry, and there is a great team of College students working in every area of the camp experience. Out on the town!

Just had to share one last experience with you. We spent this day going from one end of the Island to the other. We started by taking the 4 train to Yankee Stadium, then took the D to Coney Island. After spending a couple of hours with the locals, eating a Nathans Hot dog and some fries, and walking the board walk, we ended the day at the 21 club for the culmination of Ashley's 21st Birthday. You know what is exciting to a Dad with His daughters? My daughters really do know how to be all things to all men. I watched them treat the down and outers on the subway with value and respect, speak to the vendors on the walk way, and hold themselves with dignity and grace in the presence of professional athletes, actors, and inside public officials in the greatest city in the world. I don't know who this trip was really for, but it has been a huge time for me!!!! Some who do not know how to richly enjoy all He has given us would say, "Waist of time and money", "What about your future", well this has been the greatest use of my time and money all year! Trips to Ethiopia, China, Venezuela, camps, church meetings, and a million miles, all of it important and necessary! This trip, one of the greatest investments I have ever made! I am the most fortunate Father in the world! Remember, time on this ball is short, You better live it!!!!! Love you all,

Daddy and Daughters Vacation in New York

Daddy and his beautiful daughters celebrate Ashley's 21st birthday and engagement in New York. Thanks to many frequent flyer miles and frequent stays points, we have had the privilege to enjoy all things first class. While it has been really nice to eat at authentic restaurants, view Broadway at it's best, and travel in many different modes, the greatest joy has been for me to be with my beautiful girls and watch them as loving, happy, gracious, and compassionate young ladies. Wow, I am the most fortunate guy in the world. You know in New York, there is literally the whole world here. Every race, language, family model that you can imagine exist here. Every socio-economic group walks on the same streets and ride in the same subway. We have ridden the bus, train, cars and cabs. We have dined with hot dogs off the streets and in the 21 club. Every where we go, there are people who are all looking for the same thing. A life of significance! People are trying everything and anything to experience joy in life. It has been our privilege to live as His children with peace and significance in all areas with all kinds of people as His witness. I wish I could expound on all we have seen a little more, but you are just going to have to trust me, we have met everything here! Ha Ha! My MO is to speak to everyone I make eye contact with. It has been a blast! Some are open, some nervous, some sceptical, some scared, some excited to be spoken too, and some ticked off! But all notably react. Life is great, short,and fast! KAYLA ON THE ROAD!

Our daughters seem to be making the news these days!!!! Kayla is on mission with Fielder Road Church in Puerto Rico!!!! As you can see from the attached picture, they are suffering tremendously while helping the people of Puerto Rico!!!!! Ha Ha! Really though, they have worked hard in construction, a Bible school for children and sharing their faith to the people of Puerto Rico while loving Puerto Ricans!!!!!! They have even been sleeping on the floor!!!!! Go Kayla! Isn't that what life is really about? We all only have so many seconds that form limited minutes, that take a short number of hours, and build days that turn into a fast years that define a relatively short life! In that time vacuum we have a certain number of opportunities to either love or hate people! I am so blessed to have children who choose to love people wherever they are, regardless of weather they love back or not! Life is short, opportunities are numbered, and significance comes with influence!!! Choose to love someone today, and watch your life change another!!!! Congratulations Ashley Dawn Burk and Corbin Lockmiller! It is now official, Ashley Dawn has agreed to marry Corbin and become one in Christ with each other. As mentioned previously, being flexible and making adjustments is just part of life as life is full of surprises. It was a surprise to her mother and I that Corbin and Ashley had prayed and felt led to each other in such a short time. They met on the mission field in South Africa, found a bond in their relationship with Christ and their called mission. Am I ready? Is a Daddy ever ready to stop being the protector, provider, and hero of his baby girl? Absolutely not! Am I at peace? Yes. If there is one person in this world that I trust to be able to hear God, it is Ashley Dawn Burk. If she feels like this is the one her mother and I have been praying for since the day she was born, then I am at peace and pleased to offer my blessing to them both. I hope you will be encouraging and helpful to them as well as they begin a long engagement period. Ashley will graduate with a degree in Communication theory, and a minor in Psychology and Spanish in December. Corbin will graduate with a degree in Christian Family counseling in May and they both plan to continue their education in pursuit of Master level training. They have planed to marry near September of 2009. We will keep you updated, but until then, lift them up with your words and prayers as they seek Gods plan together! Hey, there are all kinds of acquaintances who read this blog. You all know me from different walks and different context, but you also all know how important my children are to me. Happy July1,2008!!!! Wow! Can you believe this year is half over? We had a great team go to Venezuela last week. With the exception of a few adjustments necessary because Santa Barbara Airlines decided to cancel a flight and not protect us, all went very smooth and productive. We were a team that was flexible, patient, and effective in different settings! The team all experienced many different venues, and had wonderful experiences. Friday night on the way home, Meredith was sharing how this was the first time in her life that God used her to lead someone else to a relationship with Him! That is real living!!!!!! Each of us built new relationships with friends that will be life long! Hey, life is short, and when it really gets to the bottom line, all that matters is people. Anyway, I hope you all have a great Fourth of July!!!! Remember, no matter how you party, where you Celebrate, or what music you dance to, it is possible because people died before us to keep us free!!!!!! Well, last post I spoke of surprises. Little did I know what was coming!!!!! :-) I made it to Longview and had a great Sunday morning, but by Sunday Evening many of the attenders were home not feeling well. By Monday Night, I was fully engaged!!!!!!! Ha Ha! First thinking I had food poison, I called the preacher the next morning and discovered not only was he not well but that there had been a bug circulating town for the last week. I felt so included! While I was in the Hotel trying to find the positive in all of this[ loosing weight, saving meal money, catching up on Sportscenter, etc....] I remembered a conversation I had with Reggie McNeil a couple of years ago. I asked him what his expectations were for change and he said"you know David, I just want to be viral, everywhere I go I want to leave thoughts and emotions that can become catalyst for change in the future." As I pondered his words, I thought, isn't that what we all really want? Just a chance to be significant and make a difference? Well, this week I saw how it can work. It doesn't require a lot of intimacy, time, energy, or hard work to be viral. It only requires a heart to share a little of who you are with those around you and the virus just does the rest. Now you have to remember, some viruses are destructive, while a little seasoning brings flavor to everything it touches. OK, way to allegorical and philosophical for a guy like me but hey, Ive been sick! !!!!!!! Let Him make a difference through you! Do it quick, life is short!!!!! Love you all. Surprises in Life

Life is always filled with surprises that require adjustments. Garrett and I were recently discussing this after his breakout year in baseball. Some of those surprises are great and lead to joy, some are tragic and lead to great sorrow, and some just happen and lead to adjustments. Garrett and I discussed the fact that with every surprise, we have a choice to make. We can either be a victim or a victor. Well, enough philosophy. Here is some of what we do. I will leave today for a revival in Longview that was not scheduled, but do to a medical problem with another evangelist, I will get to fill in. I will return home early Thursday morning in time to meet our first fellow missionaries for a trip where 14 of us leave for Venezuela Friday morning. Ashley is taking 12 hours this summer, I am taking six, Kayla is going to two camps, mission trip to Puerto Rico[without her daddy!!!] and choir tour. Garrett finished his playoffs, and one baseball camp, has two camps and a trip with Dad left. Ashley has this boy thing happening and will be going to South Africa along with University graduation in December. Debs life is parent meetings, preparations, house hostess, yard lady, clothes washer, bag packer, daughter in law while mom recovers from knee replacement,[Mom is doing great and Dad has recovered]head nurturer, sometimes dad and 100% MOM!!! This is missional life!!!!!!!! Wow, makes me tired thinking about it, but I would not have it any other way. Thanks to all of you who keep up and follow our steps!!!!!! Congratulations Dr. Glen Little on your and Nancy retirement at FBC Valdez! Let's do a cigar together!!!!!!! Ha Ha! Love you all, live fast and love people. It's over before you know!

Hey all, Behind again. Well, since I last published many things have happened. We have seen many come to know Christ personally in the last few weeks. I was in Alba near Lake Fork, and Springer New Mexico. The last two weeks I have been home. It has been great to be with our friends at Fielder. I have been able to be Garrett's best fan. He pitched 5 innings and left the last game with an 8-2 lead. It was his first pitching outing. I was able to go see Kayla lead worship for the student ministry at Fielder. She is great!!!!!!! Ashley finished up her semester, and now we are both seniors at Dallas Baptist University! She in 3 years, me in 28! Last Wednesday Dad had his gallbladder out. He is doing great and has been released by the Dr. Monday mom had her left knee replaced! She is still in the hospital but doing well! She will be released tomorrow and will start Therapy three days a week. Her sister Peggy is here with her. The Mission Development Council is in the midst of a morning, Jericho, prayer emphasis for direction toward our strategic mission plan. We have 14 going to Venezuela June 20 for a mission there. Bought tickets this week and they are really high! We have had the opportunity to host our friend Cecil Peasley from South Africa, our friends Rody and Wendy Chesser from San Angelo, and our friends Dr. Eric and Amy Sparks from Lubbock. We love to eat with friends! HaHa! Our good friend and Board member Marc Rodriguez will Graduate from Dallas Baptist University this Friday!!!!!! Way to Go Marc!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![ and Junell] Well, there is the past. I am off to Kermit Saturday, home for four days, to NY for a graduation, LLL with the seniors at Fielder, home a week, Youth Camp in Leakey, Venezuela, Youth Camp at Siloam Springs Ark and that will get us through June.
